Occasional headaches may go away on its own in time or with a few changes in lifestyle and diet; however, chronic and recurring headaches should be investigated properly and treated in consultation with a medical practitioner.

Natural Headache Remedies

Irrespective of the type of headache, there are a few home remedies you can try out to get relief. However, these home remedies may be temporary in the nature of relief they offer and are not a substitute to proper medical attention. If your headache is frequent and recurring, you must see a doctor and ask for proper medical advice.

So, here are a few home remedies for your headache. Make a paste of sandalwood and apply it on your forehead. It soothes the body and helps the body to cool down. You can also grind the peel of lemon and apply the paste on your head for a similar effect. Applying a paste of soaked cinnamon can be helpful as well. You can also try soaking your legs in a bucket of warm water for about 15 minutes every night before you go to sleep. This will relax your body and also make you sleep well. If your headache is due to a sinus problem you can try eucalyptus oil. Soak a towel in water mixed with a few drops of eucalyptus oil and wrap it over your head. You can also add a few drops eucalyptus oil in boiling water and inhale the steam. Herbal tea made with ginger, coriander, and cumin is another good home remedy for headache.

Besides these home remedies you should also try and relax properly. Sleep adequately every night preferably in a cool and quiet environment. Eat well and do some mild exercise daily so that your body remains healthy. A little bit of walking, jogging and meditation may also be quite useful. Avoid smoking, drinking, or eating richly cooked food. Spicy and oily foods are also best avoided along with red meat and chocolates. In addition, do get your eyesight checked as headaches are often found to be associated with eye problems.
